TR Bar LLC Requires an Approved Form 4 for All NFA Transfers

 

Step 1: Create a Silencer Shop account.

• All customers, visit Silencer Shop on a computer (not your cell phone). If not done already, create an account with your full legal name and current address on their website.

  • Note:  Ensure your account address matches exactly the address on your government issued photo ID card which is required for the final transfer.

• If you are having problems creating a Silencer Shop account, call them at 512-931-4556.

• Make sure to let them know in your profile if your registration will be as an individual, or, if not, which type of trust you'll be using. If you have an existing trust already, this is where you'll upload a PDF of it. The link for Silencer Shop's website is: www.SilencerShop.com.

  • Note:  Information on trust types and how to decide can be obtained by calling Silencer Shop Customer Service at 512-931-4556.

 

Step 2: Download the Silencer Shop app on your smartphone.

• Log on using the same email address & password as your Silencer Shop account from the computer.

• Use the app to take the required passport-type photo. This will be automatically uploaded to your Silencer Shop account for the upcoming ATF Form 4. No Hats or Face Covering!

 

Step 3: Create an ATF E-Forms account at https://eforms.ATF.gov.

• If not done already, visit the ATF's E-Forms website and create an account with the ATF.

  • Note:  MAKE SURE to use the same email address and full legal name as your Silencer Shop account, EXACTLY.

• Create the 4-digit PIN and write it down somewhere. After creating the account, the ATF will email you your account USERNAME. Make sure to write it down; you'll need BOTH of your eforms.ATF.gov USERNAME which will be your first initial and last name along with a 5-digit number (sample for John Doe: jdoe12345) and ATF 4-digit PIN at a later step in the certification process. You cannot certify without these two items.

  • Note:  Failure to make sure all the information in your SilencerShop.com and Eforms.ATF.gov account match WILL stop the process at the last step and cause additional delays. Be consistent with your information on all associated accounts.

 

Step 4: You can purchase from our inventory, have TR Bar order the silencer or purchase directly from Silencer Shop online.

• If registering your silencer with a trust, purchase the appropriate trust as well.

• Effective January 1, 2026, the $200.00 Federal Tax Stamp Requirement has been removed

• Effective August 5, 2026, TR Bar will transfer NFA items under the following conditions:

• 1- Customer completes the submission of a Form 4 through Silencer Shop, and customer completes a 4473 and receives a NICS “Proceed” and customer has a valid New Mexico Concealed Carry Permit (NMCCP), then customer can take NFA item that day.

• 2- Customer completes the submission of a Form 4 through Silencer Shop and customer completes a 4473 and receives a NICS “Proceed” but customer doesn’t possess a NMCCP then customer can pick up the NFA item when the Form 4 is approved, or the 4473 7-day hold has expired whichever comes first.

• 3- Customer can simply complete a Form 4 through the Silencer Shop process and once the ATF approves the Form 4 the customer can complete the transfer process that day or the next day the TR Bar store is open.

 

Step 5: Visit our store to perform fingerprinting on the Silencer Shop kiosk.

• After the above steps are done, if not already on file, you will receive an email from Silencer Shop asking you to visit our store with their supplied QR code to have your fingerprints digitally taken.

• If you've done this in our store or at any Silencer Shop Kiosk, you do not have to do this step again.

 

Step 6: Login online when prompted to certify your ATF Form 4.

• After all these steps are completed, you will receive an email from Silencer Shop for you to "certify/sign" your pending ATF Form 4. You will just click on the link to open the Form 4 and follow the instructions in the message.

• If you chose to do this in our store, please BRING WITH YOU your ATF 4-DIGIT PIN # (not your password) and ATF E-Forms account username (again, not your password, your E-Forms issued user ID “jdoe12345”). We will help you complete the certification.

• When certifying remotely, you will be asked to click on the Silencer Shop link and electronically sign the documents. On the Silencer Shop site, under your account you can save your credentials (Eforms Log-In and certification Information) for certification purposes and if completed, this process saves time during the certification process.

• Please contact TR BAR at 575-434-2995 if you have any questions on how to certify the form 4.

 

Step 7: Visit our store to pick up your silencer.

• Once approved, you will be emailed a copy of the approved Form 4 from the ATF.

• You must keep a printed copy of the approved form 4 with the Class III item at all times, everywhere it goes. This is your Tax Stamp.

• Bring a printed copy of the approved Form 4 with you to pick up your item.

• Before transferring, you must complete a 4473 form and provide a valid NM driver's license with your current address. If you are in the military, you must present an official copy of PCS orders, along with your military ID and current driver's license.  

• Note:  All silencers and NFA Class III items purchased from a third party (not through Silencer Shop) will incur a $100.00 transfer fee. Silencers purchased from TR Bar inventory will be subject to a $25.00 Form 4 transfer fee. NM Gross Receipts Tax is applicable on all sales. No additional fees apply when purchasing directly from Silencer Shop.
